The Examiner, barque, Sconllar master, that left here on Thursday last for Greymonth, arrived safely alongside the wharf at her port of destination this morning. She will load up with coal and timber and return immediately. The arrival of the Examiner has given general satisfaction to the people of Greymonth, who trust she is but the pioneer of a licet of similar vessels, of which any number could immediately find cargoes. This barque can carry nearly 400 to;.s of cargo on a draught of ten feet. The brigantine Oceola was to leave Auckland last Tuesday with railway material for this port and Dunedin, and the schooner Caledonia was advertised for Lyttelton direct on the 13th inst. The Ehoderick Dhn left Auckland on the 11th instant for Kaipara to load timber for this port, and the schooner Saxon sailed from Auckland on the 10th via Ngungnrn with 50,000 ft, timber. The steamer Southern Cross sailed on Saturday night for Gore Bay, Wellington, and East Coast Ports with general cargo as per exports and live assengers. The Kingarooma is due from the North to-morrow morning. She leaves a few hoars after arrival for Melbourne, via Port Chalmers and Bluff. The ketch Catlin left Catdn’s River on Thursday last; had S.W. winds till off Oamaru, when it veered to S.S.E. until off the Peninsula, thence a light N.E. wind. She arrived on Saturday evenlug* The ship Mallowdale was berthed at the Gladstone Pier on Saturday afternoon. The thoroughbred draught horses from Scotland, brought by her. Were landed this morning,
JOHN WATSON, FROM THE MAURITIUS,
On Saturday afternoon the barqnontine John Watson anchored in the harbor from the Mauritius. She is a Scotch built vessel of 209 tons register. This is her first visit to Lyttelton, and is one in Which she has earned the reputation of a fast sailer, having made the run in thirty-three days to the Snares, and thirty-eight from port to port. She left Port Louis at 6 a.m. on the 13th ult,, and reports heavy weather all the way to the Snares, which were sighted last Monday; from there moderate and fine weather to port. Her cargo consists or 300 tons of sugar, consigned to her agents, Messrs Wood, Shand, & Co. The vessel was cleared by the health officer immediately on her arrival, and will be entered at the Customs to-day.
DEPARTURE OP THE CRUSADER FOR LONDON.
Messrs Shaw, Sivill and Co.’s AAI clipper ship the Crusader left the harbor early yesterday morning for London. The tug Titan took her in tow at five o’clock, and proceeded with her six or seven miles, when the ship made all sail, and with a propitious breeze from the nor’-west started on her voyage. Her departure occurring so nearly simultaneously with that of the Waitangi naturally awakens more than ordinary interest, and the numerous admirers of Captain Davis and his " yacht” will await the news of his arrival home with confidence. The prompt despatch which has characterized the vessel's stay in port reflects very favorably upon the representatives of Shaw, Savill n.nd Co.’s and the Albion lines. She arrived on the 11 h of October, and has occupied a berth at the wnarf but fifty-five working days, during which time, despite the much-complained-of inadequate supply of trucks, her discharging and complete loading have been accomplished. As will be seen from the following abstract of her outwards manifest, she takes home a large and valuable cargo. Shipped by the firms named in our memoranda of exports elsewhere Cargo.
