TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION.
The following arrangements hare been made for the route to be taken by the torchlight procession on Monday night, and the order in which the brigades will march. They will assemble at the City Council yards at nine o’clock, where they will be marshalled in their proper order by Mr Superintendent Harris. Tne procession will be headed by a trolly carrying an electric light, which will be a new feature ia the processsion, as it will bo remembered the light was shown last year from the summit of St. John’s Church. This will be under the superintendence of Professor Bickorton or Mr Q-ray. The silk banner of the brigade will droop from the back of the trolly. The next in order will bo a brass band, followed by the Hook and Ladder carriage, Pioneer and the members of the company. The Christchurch Fire Police, Lyttelton Brigade, two deep, and the steamer Extinguisher will come next, the latter attended by the members of its company, They will be followed by the Kdapoi Brigade, twenty strong. The Dreadnought hand-engine and its members will march next, accompanied by a second brass band. Behind the Dreadnought the brigades from Dunedin, Mornington, Port Chalmers, Waimate, and Timaru have been placed, the rear of the procession being brought up by the steamer Deluge and its company, each member of the several brigades will carry a lighted torch. The route will bo illuminated with coloured fires and golden showers from the several engines. The procession, starting from Cashel street bridge, will go to Colombo street, and then south os far as Montgomery’s corner, when a detour will be made into Tuam street to Mr A. J. White’s. Thence they will march along High street, through Cathedral square, over Victoria Bridge as far as the Junction Hotel. From there they will proceed along Salisbury street to Park terrace until they reach the College bridge. A halt will be made here, the procession remaining stationary until all the spectators have crossed into the park, so as to prevent unnecessary crowding at this point. When the people have passed over, the Brigades will follow to the grand stand, and the pyrotechnic display will then take place. Special arrangements will be made with the police authorities for the preservation of order along the line of route, as well as in the neighborhood of the grand stand, while the fireworks are being let off. In order to secure the comfort of holders of grand stand tickets, the sale of them will be limited, and no money will bo taken on the ground. On the termination of the fireworks the procession will again fall in, and return in the order in which they started as far as the College bridge, where they will pick up the engines and march down Armagh street to Montreal street ; thence they will proceed down Hereford street to the Bank of New Zealand. Here the procession will break up, the Chester street companies returning to their station through Cathedral square, and the Lichfield street compa-'ies by way of High street to Lichfield street station. The Pioneer will bo under tire command of Foreman West; the Extinguisher under Foreman Hobbs; the Dreadnought under Foreman Ashby ; and the Deluge under Foreman Turton. The Kaiapoi contingent will march unde? Superintendent Smith; the Eangiora under Superintendent Lilly, and the Lyttelton under Superintendent Sowden. The Fire Police will be marshalled by Captain Mitchell,
