The s.s. Tui, from Wellington and Kaikoura, arrived at 1 a.m, to-day. She sails on return trip s.s., from Northern ports, arrived at 7,45 a.m. She sails South this afternoon. The s.s. Claud Hamilton, Captain Chatfleld, from Melbourne via North, arrived at noon to-day. She Bailed for Melbourne via South this after oon. The Onward, from Kaipara, arrived to-day. Mr M iller’s slip at Corsair Bay, Lyttelton, was sold yesterday for £l5O. The Captain of the schooner Hannah Barrett reports having left Picton last Friday, encountering head winds and calms along the coast; arrived on the Heads on Sunday at midnight, and came np the harbor yesterday, anchoring inside the breakwater at noon. The Elizabeth Curie was loading at Picton when Captain Eenner left, and would probably leave for Lyttelton to-morrow or Thursday. Captain John Wilson, of the schooner Friendship, writing to the Port Chalmers correspondent of the “ Otago Daily Times,” from Campbell Island under date of November 19th, describes the place as being a magnificent harbor, perfectly landlocked, and almost free of dangers. The prevailing winds are from S S. W. to N. W. The cutter Nautilus, formerly owned by Captain Denscm, . f Port Chalmers, was at anchor at the island, having touched there on her passage from the Ancklands. She had some 500 sealskins on board, and would sail with the first southerly wind for the Blulf. Captain Wilson intends remaining a little time at Campbell Island, and then pushing on for Emerald Island, at which place the sea elephant is said to be found in great numbers.
FOREIGN SHIPPING. Glasgow advices state that the barque Coromandel was to follow the Jasper for Lyttelton The Jasper is commanded by Captain Grant, an old favorite, formerly in the Himalaya. She may be expected to arrive early next month, and, like the Coromandel, is consigned to Mr C. W. Turner, From advices received, Mr Turner expects another vessel will be laid on for this port immediately after the departure of the Coromandel. The same enterprising shipowner is the consignee of the barques Amelia and Marie—the former from Oregon, due m a fortnight's time, and the Marie from the Mauritius. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Port Chalmers, December 9. Arrivals—Bobycito from Newcastle; brig Star of Mersey from Hokianga. Bluff, December 9. The Arawata arrived at 5.30 p.m. She left Melbourne with the Suez mail, 63 saloon and 50 steerage passengers, 345 tons cargo, and 21 horses, at 5.15 p tn. on the sth. Experienced flue weather. She sails at daylight to-morrow for Dunedin. Passengers—Saloon: Bishop Harper, the Hon. Aclaud, Mrs and Miss Acland, Mrs Herman, Messrs Aay lor, Hewlings, and ten steerage ; 47 tons OUTifO Port Chalmers, December 10, Arrived—Palace, barque, from Wangaroa. Wellington, December 10. The Napier sails for London to-day. Also the barque Helen Denny, with 3552 bales of wool, 6 bales of hides, 23 sacks tallow, and 1 case effects, valued in all at £68,131 7s lOd.
