RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
The second competition for Messrs Petersen’s monthly challenge cup took place at the Cashmere range on Saturdiy last. The attendance was not large, owing partly to expected bad weather, and the inability of most members of the Dunedin team to leave their business. The rain, which had been falling from noon until two o’clock, ceased just as firing commenced, From the scores below it will bo seen that some excellent shooting was made by several members. The day was favorable to good shooting, although the wind was rather fitful. Corporal Chapman, of the Engineers, proved tho winner in the present competition with 70 paints, Sapper Marshall and Mr Appleby each scoring 68, and securing second and third prizes respectively.
