PRESBYTERY OF CHRISTCHURCH.
The Presbytery of Christchurch met ail hunc cffectum on Thursday, December sth, in St. Andrew’s Church schoolroom, and was duly constituted with devotional exercises. Sederunt the Revs. Messrs Fraser (moderator pro tern), Horner, and McGregor, clerk. The clerk having intimated the business of the meeting, then the Presbytery proceeded to examine Mr Hauxwell in Hebrew and Greek, theology and church history, and to hear his discourses ; whereupon it was resolved that his trials bo sustained with much satisfaction, and that his ordination and induction be appointed forthwith. It was agreed that the usual edict thereanent be read at the ordinary services on Sabbath Bth and 15th current, and that the ordination and induction take place on Monday, 23rd instant, at Waddinglon schoolroom, at the hour of eleven o’clock a.m. The Rev. C. Eraser to preside, ordain and induct. The Rev. W. H. Horner to preach, the Rev. J. Elmslie to address the minister, the Rev. W. McGregor to address the people, the Rev. J. Mclntosh to give a statement of Presbyterian principles. The clerk laid on the table correspondence with Captain Milman and J. Kingston Barton, Esq., surgeon Rangitikei, concerning the lale Mr Craigie; and it was resolved to record the thanks of the Presbytery for their kindness; to approve of the captain’s suggestion regarding his personal effects ; and that the clerk forward to Home Secretary of the Free Church, Edinburgh, copy of surgeon’s report. The clerk laid on the table a letter from Mr Munro. After deliberation, it was resolved that it be considered at next ordinary meeting of Presbytery. The meeting was closed with the benediction.
