The Hon. J. Macannrew and the Hon. J. T. Fisher ai rived here last evening. The former was deputationised to-day by various public bodies on matters of local importance. Mr Fisher is unwell, and has been ordered by the doctor to remain here some days. Mr Macandrew goes Nor th to-day. Auckland, December 6.

A new two-storey house in Pitt street, owned by Captain Elliott, not quite finished, was burned down at five o'clock this morning. It was insured in the Colonial Insurance Company for .£4OO. Death of Sir J. Richardson. Dunedin, December 6-h, 3.31 p.m. Sir John Richardson died at thrca o'clock this afternoon, at the Imperial Hotel, of dropsy.
