The matter was referred to the engineer to report upon at the next meeting. A letter was rend from Messrs Harman and Stevens, stating that there would be no objection to an agreement being entered into between the Board and Mr Lancaster, provided the same was made in accordance with the contract of Messrs Harman and Stevens with the Board’s engineer. The Chairman said the matter was in course of arrangement. Mr Hall objected to such a motion being brought forward without notice. He hoped it would be postponed until the next meeting, so that members who were not familiar with the whole of the circumstances could make themselves acquainted with it. In answer to a question, the engineer said he would prefer to do the work in question by day labor. It could be dme quite as well, and they would have greater supervision over the work. Mr Duncan did not think it would be wise at present to bring np the question of doing the whole of the works by day labor. With regard to the works asked for by Mr Harman, be had no objection to their being done by day labor. Mr Harman then withdrew his opposition, and the motion having been seconded by Mr Duncan, was carried. It was resolved to advertise that any householders wishing to have connection with the main line of sewer in the Ferry road could have the work done on paying the cost to the Bo ird. The meeting then adjourned.
