RAILWAY BENEFIT SOCIETY.

A special general meeting or the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Railway Employes’ Benefit Society was held on Thursday evening in the accountants cilice. Mr F. Back, general manager, occupied the chair. The Chairman said that the business for which the meeting was convened was the appointment of medical men for the different districts and the revision of the rules of the Society, lie then called upon the secretary to read the report of the central committee with reference to the appointment of medical men. The secretary then read the report , which stated that for the central district of Christchurch, from the Valley to Dunsandol south and branches and to Belfast north, two tenders had been received, one from Dr. Wardale and the others from Drs. Campbell and Colling. The committee recommended the acceptance of the latter, For Lyttelton, the

committee recommended the appointment of Dr. Bennett, for iho North of Dr. Ovenden, for Ashburton of Dr. Trevor, for Timaru of Dr. Williams. For Southbridge the committee recommended that the offer of Drs. Campbell and Collins to include this with their Christchurch branch should be accepted. The report of the committee as read was adopted, and the recommendations contained therein endorsed. The next question discussed was the revision of the rules, and the rules as amended by the committee were road seriatim, and, with some slight, alterations, were adopted and ordered to bo printed. The meeting concluded after passing a vote of thanks to the chairman. The next general meeting of the society will bo held on the first Thursday in December.
