LYTTELTON. Friday, November 1. fßefore W. Donald, Esq., R M., and H. R. Webb, Esq., J P.] Lunacy prom Drink.—Thomas Jones, on remand from Christchurch, having fully recovered, was dismissed with a caution. LARCENY. —Richard Taylor, a seaman belonging to the American brigantine Star, was accused of the above offence. From the evidence of Captain Day and a hoy, it appeared accused had taken an umbrella belonging to the captain on Wednesday last, valued at £2 Accused stated he had merely hid the umbrella under a boat for safety. Accused was further charged with embezzling a sharpening stone, a portion of the cargo. As the police wished to bring forward more evidence, accused was remanded till Tuesday on both charges.
