Alhambra, from Melbourne, via North, arrived at 10 a.m. She sails for Melbourne, via South, this day. The s.s. Ladybird arrived from Port Chalmers at 11 a.m. She sails for Manukau, via Wellington and West Coast, this afternoon. HThe barque Olmstee, from New York direct, was signalled this morning. AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING. The Melbourne “ Age ” of October 7th says : The ship Merope arrived on Saturday, October sth, from Lyttelton, New Zealand, in ballast, to load here for home. She is a flue looking vessel of a little over 1000 tons register, and will have quick despatch in filling np. Lyttelton was left on the 18th nit., and baffling winds experienced until clearing Cook’s Straits on the 23rd, then strong westerly winds and squally weather to the Sisters, passed on the 2nd instant, and since light variable winds, principally from the N.W. Prom the same paper we learn that the ship Trevelyan, from Lyttelton, bound to Queenstown, Beventy-eight days out, was spoken by the Superb on the outskirts of the S.E. trades, and supplied with provisions. The Superb reached Melbourne on October sth, SHIPPING TELEGEAMS. Auckland, October 16. Sailed—Hawea, at 4 p.m. Passengers—For Lyttelton—Messrs Perry, Higgins, Madden, Lauton, Cox, Fraser, Milton, Anderson, Mr and Mrs Hayward, Mrs Paget. Timaru, October 16th. Arrived—Barquentine George Noble, from Newcastle, after a very stormy passage. On the 12th Inst. a sea broke aboard, smashing boats and booms, arid carrying away a lot of deck hamper.
