It is supposed to be the lAmerican ship Southminster, from New York, via Dunedin, with part cargo of Yankee notions for this port. The Hopeful, barque, from the Mauritius to Lyttelton, was signted by the s.s. Tararua to the southward of the Peninsula. The Crusader brings the blood stallion Perkin Warbock for Mr Alfred Cardale. He has arrived in splendid condition. The s.s. Rotorua, Captain Carey, arrived at 10.30 a.m. to-day. She sails for Sydney, via Wellington, East Coast and Auckland, this afternoon. The s.s. Tararua arrived at 9.15 a.m. to-day. She Bails for Melbourne, via North, this afternoon. ARRIVAL OF THE N.Z.S. CO.'s SHIP ORARI, FROM WELLINGTON. This ship, in ballast, from Wellington, arrived this morning. She is commanded by Capt. Mosey, formerly of the Dnko of Edinburgh. She comes here to load wool for home, and will sail in Nov., being next ship to the Waimate. ARRIVAL~OF THE SHIP CRUSADER FROM LONDON. This regular trader came in early this morning, anchoring off Ripa Island at 7 a.m. Captain Llewellyn Davis is, we are glad to say, still in command, and besides a full cargo the ship brings 62 passengers of all classes, the saloon as usual with this popular vessel being crowded. The ship has been 91 days from the Downs to arrival, 87 from the Lizard to arrival, and 82 from land to land. The weather has been fine throughout, but bad S.E. trades and an absence of westerlies during the time the ship was making her easting have rendered the run longer than is usual with this speedy ship. An infant named Nicholas Smith died on the voyage, but the general health of the passengers has been good. A testimonial was presented to Captain Davis by the passengers. The N.Z.S. Co.'s ship Waimate is proceeding rapidly with her discharge, and is also fast filling rip with her homeward cargo. It is expected that to-morrow she will have finished discharging and have half of her outward loading aboard. Such despatch is a credit to our port, and there is no doubt that the Waimate, in spite of not arriving till a considerable time after she was expected, will be ready for sen on Oct. 19th, her appointed date of sailing. ___^^________
