She left Lyttelton on September 21st, had variable winds till the 24th, then s rong gale from N.N.W., with heavy sea, off the Kaikouras; this drove her 240 miles off land ; the gale moderated on the 27th, thonce she had northerly winds to arrival. Sailed—Claud Hamilton, for the Bluff.
