Sunday Services. —In another column will be found an advertisement of services to be held to-morrow in connection with the Colombo road Wesleyan Church. Tub Inward San Francisco Mail.—The s.s, Taranaki, with this mail, arrived in harbor this morning. The mail was sent through to Christchurch by the first train. _ Governor’s Bay. —The s.s. Lyttelton will run to Governor’s Bay to-morrow, weather permitting. The Late Burglary.— lt is supposed that the burglar who broke into Mrs Bradwell’s shop the other night, and stole over £IOO worth of stamps, has been captured. At all events over £3O worth of duty stamps are now in the possession of the police, having been found in the house of Stanton Walter Daniel, who is in custody on a charge of being on the premises of the Hon. William Eobinaon, with intent to commit a burglary. The facts would appear to bp ac follows : On Wednesday morning a bunch of keys and a gimblet were found planted under & busk in Mr Eobinson’s garden. The police were communicated with, and they kept a strict watch it t-he place during Thursday night, no one came, but shortly after midnight on Friday Daniels 'made hie appearance, and went straight to the‘ pi&Q? where the keys had been found, and which he h*.d no ueoner reached than he was pounced down upon by the police. On searching bis lodging close by, p, small box was found containing over £3O wontk of duty stamps, which, doubtless, formed a po pSiqn of the booty obtained from Mrs Bradwei), ftrigoner was formeily a cook at Mr Robinson’s, but Wf.s discharged a short time ago for irregularities. He was brought up at the Police Court this morning, and formally remanded until Wednesday, in order ,that the police may have time to make fuller iuLupdes. Improvements at Lyttelton. —At yesterday’s sitting of the Harbor Board three tenders were sent in for No. 3 Wharf and Breastwork, at Lyttelton. That of Messrs Hawkins and Co., for £10,879 lls 10d, was accepted. Wearing’s Hotel. —The western wing of this hotel is nearly completed, and the building is now of a thoroughly uniform character. When the interior is finished the already extensive accommodation will be very greatly increased. Opera Classes. —ln noticing the approaching opening of Mr Towle’s opera classes a misunderstanding occurred as to the class of performance intended to be given. It was stated that it was to be opera di camera. But this is not the case, as Mr Towle intends giving the operas in appropriate dress, and with the necessary scenery.
