Messages received in town this afternoon state that the River Bealey is higher now than it has been for years past, and is still rising. There is therefore every prospect that the island at Kaiapoi will be still further flooded, the water being reported as coming down mountains high, Kaiapoi residents who were in town were urged to return quickly, otherwise they were likely to have their passage cut OiL It will be seen by the telegrams from the Coast that floods and bad weather have prevailed there throughout the week, and that the coach which left here last Saturday has not yet reached Hokitika.
