MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, September 25. [Before GK L. Hellish, Esq., R.M,] Drunk and Disorderly. —Mary Cuqningham was charged with this offence, and also with having used obscene language in a public street, The accused admitted the offence as far as the drunkenness was concerned, but emphatically denied the imputation ot having used the bad language. She had been previously convicted thirty-six times, and had only just completed a sentence of twelve months’ imprisonment. She pleaded very hard for another chance, and his Worship ordered her to pay a fine of 40s. Patrick Butler, charged with being a participator with the female prisoner in her revels, was lined 60s, it being his twenty-lirst appearance in Court. Assault. —Thomas Foss, brought up on remand, charged with assaulting Thomas Langdown on the 11th inst., was, on the application of the police, discharged.
