PocunAß Stoets at Waxmatk. Some people in Waimate appear to be very hard up for amusement. For want of higher game, they were compelled last week to burn the local Sergeant of Police in t-Hlgy. What the sergeant had done to provoke the hostility of the 300 Waimate natives, who thus exhibited their opinion of him, is not stated. The local paper is careful to mention that the elite of iho place did not attend the obsequies.
