AUSTRALIA.
Sydney, September 17. It has been decided to hold an International Show at Sydney next year. Judge Stow, of Adelaide, is dead. At a meeting of the Agricultural Society to-day, the Governor presiding, it was decided to hold an International Exhibition. Public subscriptions will be solicited, and the Government asked to apply to Parliament for proportionate aid. A match is nearly arranged between Trickett and Rush, for the championship, with fixed seats. Trickett's hand is healed. Melbourne, September 17. The Albion sailed to-day, and the Ringarooma yesterday, direct for Wellington. Adelaide, September 17. Obituary—Judge Stow, aged fifty. An abundant harvest is expected. NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS. [PBB PEESS AGENOY.] Wellington, September 17. The following programme has been arranged for the Hutt races on the 6th and 7th of February next. First Day—Maiden Plate, of 75 sivs.; Hurdle race of 50 sovs.; Wellington Gold Cup, value 100 sovs., with 500 sovs. added; Hutt Park Stakes, of 50 sovs. ; Flying Stakes, of 50 sovs. Seoond Day— Wellington Derby, of 100 sovs.; Hurdle Handicap, of 75 sovs.; Racing Club Handicap, of 200 sovs.; Free Handicap, of 50 sovs.; Empire Plate, of 100 sovs. ; Consolation Stakes, of 50 sovs. Dunedin, September 17. Messrs C. S. Reeves and H. S. Fish are probable candidates for the office of Mayor for the ensuing year. Detective Neill, of Dunedin, left this morning for the scene of the murder, which took place at Mantara on Sunday last.

Considerable official changes are taking place at the Lunatic Asylum, both by resignation and dismissal. Dr. Philson was offered the office of medical attendant; Mr Skae temporarily in charge. ' The experiment of the Government subsidising lines of 'busses to the railway has been a failure, and is to bo discontinued at the end of September unless there are better results.
Mr Page, a Tasmanian breeder of thoroughbred stock is here, and intends making a tour through New Zetland, visiting the studs and breeding establishments.
