NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS.

[PKE FRB3S AGENCY.]. Waitaea, September 10. Captain McKenzie, of the Hannah Mokau, has just arrived from Raglan and reports a quantity of wreckage along the beach off that place. Several kegs of butter have come ashore, also sixty-three dead sheep, which have been skinned by the natives. Part of the vessel's deck, sails, spars, &c. have been washed ashore, also the head-board of the "Kaiuma," leaving no doubt as to the unfortunate result which has befallen the schooner.

Captain McKenzie is of opinion she must have gone ashore on Moody Head during the gale on the 15th ult, and all hands perished, Ahattba, September 12.

The inconvenience arising from there being no J.P.'s in the Grey Valley ie daily felt. Mr Shaw, the R.M. at Reefton, is the only J.P., and there being no solicitors but at Greymouth or Reefton, the residents of the Valley are compelled to proceed to one or other place to make affidavits. The Presß has frequently drawn attention to this oversight. Patea, September 10. The ketch Heron Belle, which ran ashore last Thursday on the Manawatu beach, floated on Monday night, and put to sea, having Captain Bendall, the insurance agent, on board. An attempt was made to reach Wanganui to repair, but a strong wind blew her on to Patea. In attempting to take the bar, she got too much to the north and beached. She was floated again last night, and will enter the river this morning. Timaeu, September 11. Mr Beetham, the newly-appointed Resident Magistrate for Timaru, took his seat to-day on the magisterial bench. A further Court enquiry is being now heard before him, Mr B. Woolcombe, and Mr T. W. Hall, as nautical assessors, touching the wreck of the barque Melrose on Sunday week last. It ie likely to continue sitting all day.
