The Soukar did not get away yesterday, the Strong southerly gale blowing continuously. Owing to the continual rain work was comparatively at a standstill in Lyttelton yesterday. The Taupo and Hinomoa sailed last night at 11 p.m. with the members and excursionists for Wellington. They had a good southerly gale behind them to help them on their way. PORT OF AKAROA. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, September 9. Arrived —Wave of Life, from Suwarrow. Port Chalmers, September 9. Arrived—Agnes Jessie, from Hobart Town. Westport, Septem er 10. The schooner Amaranth, from Onehunga, 13th August, to Greymouth, has put in here short of Provisions, after a lengthened detention off Greymonth. She has a cargo of timber for the Bank of New Zealand, and is owned by Guthrie and LarWellington, September 10. The s s. Hawea left for the South at 2 p.m. Passengers—Mrs Small, Mrs Adamson, Messrs Patterson, Parker, Bennett, Benage, Arrived —Easby, from Lyttelton. The s.s. Hinemoa, which left Lyttelton last night at 11.30, arrived here at half-past twelve, making the trip in thirteen hours, the fastest on record from wharf to wharf. Tho s.s. Taupo, which loft at the same time, arrived little over half an hour after the Hinemoa.
