Tsiaroa, Captain Pieterson, arrived in harbour at 10 a.m. to-day trom Auckland, via East Coast and Wellington. She sails for Port Chalmers at 3 o’clock this afternoon, The Kildonan, ship, cleared for Napier yesterday with original cargo tor that port. The Richard and Mary, schooner, Captain Miller, arrived in harbour trom Motueka late last night. She brings 3.1,000 feet of timber for R. T. Hodder. Cull' and Graham are agents. A brig called the Raymond, i >uu with a cargo of coals tor P. Cunningham and Co., arrived yesterday. Her master, Captain R. Evans, reports leaving Newcastle August 3rd, and having fine westerly weather across the middle ground. About twenty-tour hours before making Cape Farewell a heavy S.W, gale was oucouutered. Cleared the Straits at mid-day ou Wednesday, and had fresh breeze down the coast. When off Cape Campbell, the br;g then going seven k„ots, and the light bearing W.S.W. lour miles distant, she violently struck something which brought her up all standing. After a heavy roll the brig freed herself of the encumbrance, which was in all probability the submerged hull of a floating wreck, ns some limber was seen floating anout when the vessel struck. On Thursday a fresh southerly gale was encountered, wuen it was found the vessel was leaking fast, requiring the pumps to be kept constantly going. Light variable winds and calms were experienced, when the gale broke, lasting to arrival oR the Hoads ou Saturday night. Owing, however, to thick weather, the brig had to stand away from the laud, the Heads being made the second time on Sunday morning, and the vessel coming to an anchorage. Got nuderweigh yesterday m.ruing, and ran up to an anchorage oif the Breakwater.

ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP BRIDE OF LOENE, FROM CARDIFF,

A ship was signalled from the Soxith yesterday morning, and proved to bo the Bride of Lome, from Cardiff, with a cargo of railway iron for the Government, Messrs Edwards, Bennett and Co. being her agents, and Captain Richardson her commander. She is a North American built ship, was launched in 18(19, and till the present voyage has been in the Last Indian trade. Her owners are Messrs W. and R. Wright, of Liverpool. Hire left Cardiff on April (ltd, and has therefore been no less than 135 days on the voyage, but this long passage is mainly attributable to the nature of her cargo, which rendered the ship almost unmanageable in heavy weather, and obliged her to run before the ■wind whenever it blew a gale. During some of the heavy weather the cargo shifted, and, owing to the straining of the vessel, she has leaked badly in deck and topsides, obliging the men to be at the pumps hourly in bad, and every two hours in flue, weatuer. 'the Bride of Lome has been unlucky in meeting with a succession of severe gales during nearly the whole trip, while both the trade winds were light and unsteady. All on board, in which are included the captain’s wife and daughter, are in good health, but an apprentice named Gardiner tell overboard on June 30th, and was drowned. The following is Captain iiicbardson’s report of the trip 'The Bride of L.rne left Cardiff on April 6th, and had easterly winds for twenty-four hours, after wide ait hauled to the s uthward, and blew a gale in the chops of the Channel, ship rolling eavily. Fine weather and light southerly winds prevailed across the Bay, the N.JE. trades being met with in Hi!.3o N. They were very light and left the ship in 5 N. Cau s ht S.E. trades on May 9th, in 4.33 N. Crossed tue Equator ou May 14th, thirtyeight days out. TheS.E. trades wore like the N.E., very poor, and loft the ship ou May Hist in 14.25 S. That same day had terrific squalls from S. W,, losing lower foretopsail, jib, and upper foretopsail. Then had moderate variable weather till June 7th, when the ship was in 33.10 S. A perfect hurricane was ou that date encountered from the S.S.E., carrying away main topmast staysail stay, and chain fore tack. (Ship hove to. Uu June 12th had another heavy gale, which held for two days, during which the cargo started. Secured it as well as possible, but the ship roiled terrifically, and strained fearfully. Another gale sprang up ou the 17th, with very heavy sea, a great deal of water coming aboard, swamping the cabin several times. During this and the preceding gale the ship had to be kept before the wind in consequence of her heavy rolling. Passed meridian of Caro m4O 8., the weather heiiKf oxUexneiy bad, nothing but a succession of heavy westerly gales, amounting at times to a hurricane, being encountered. Ou June 30th, in lat. 40 ri , an apprentice named John Henry Gardiner fell overboard trom the mizen chains at 11 p.m. Hove tbe ship to and threw life buoy overboard, but tbe lad was never seen again, and it was found impossible to lower a boat. Ban down easting between 40 and 50 S., the ship having to be kept before tbe wind. The gales were heavy throughout, and the ship most of the time was under small sail. Passed the Snares ou August 9th, and Lad tine weather and variable winds up the coast, arriving oil' Peninsula on Wednesday last, a succession of cilms and light ballhug winds preventing the ship’s arrival till yesterday, though the light was seen on Sunday night. Anchored olf Camp Bay yesterday aiteruoou. The leaking is principally from the topsides, but has necessitated pumping the ship hourly in bad weather. The tollowing vessels were spoken ; Barque Edgar trom Swansea to Valparaiso, 45 days out, ou May 22nd, On July 28th spoke the ship G. C. Bussell from Cape Town to Medjilones, 20 days out. May 24th, b .rque Virginia, from Newport to Kio Janeiro with railway iron, 50 days out. On May 25th spoke German barque I.H.N.W. from Buenos Ayres to Falmouth, 13 days out. On July noth, in 40 S., spoke ship luvercauld bound to Adelaide. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS, Wellinoion, August 19.
