The s.s. Eotorna arrived in harbor, from Sydney, via Auckland and East Coast, at 9,30 this morning. She sailed South at 3 this afternoon. A schooner and barque were signalled this morning, but their numbers were not np when our express left port. The Felix Stowe, barqne, is expected from Newcastle with a cargo of coals for Mr E, Wood, of Lyttelton. She is already some 14 days out. The brig Fawn was towed into the stream yesterday morning by the s.s. Akaroa. She sails the first fair wind for Brisbane with a cargo of produce. The s.s. Hawea passed Lyttelton Heads hound South yesterday at 1.30 p.m.i The brigantine Mary Bannantyne, from Hokitika, was coming np the harbor when oar express left port last night. Mr W. Cameron has telegraphed to Lyttelton that the Mullough, s.s., is now in perfect safety, and that after a few rivets which were loosened when she went ashore have been replaced, she will be floated. The damage she has sustained is of a trifling nature. The barqne Australian Sovereign, Captain Berry, left Newcastle on July 27th, with fresh southerly breeze. Had strong S.W, and S.S.W. gales across the middle ground, accompanied by high sea. During the passage a heavy sea came aboard, carrying away the whole of the port bulwarks from the fore to the mizen mast ; passed Cape Farewell on August 2nd at 9 p.m.,and came through the Straits next morning with a flowing sheet, Cape Campbell being passed at noon. Fresh S.W. and S.S.W. winds were then encountered till the Bth, ■when the breeze fell light, continuing variable with fine weather to arrival at anchorage at the Heads at 10 same night. She sailed np the harbor yesterday, anchoring off the Breakwater at 1 s.m. She brings a full cargo of coals for Mr C. W. Turner, and will be berthed to discharge this day at the No. 4 Wharf. RETURN OP THE SHIP DUKE OF ARGYLE IN DISTRESS. This morning a ship was signalled from the South, and the Titan went down to her and found her within five miles of the Heads. Those aboard the tug were astonished to find the vessel was the Duke of Argyle, which lately left Lyttelton for London, having been out eleven days. Captain Davidson stated that he had returned in consequence of the ship being too tender to proceed on her voyage. She had experienced very heavy weather, and had been on her beam ends, in consequence of which the officers and crow refused to proceed on the voyage, and the captain had to return. The royal and topgallant yards were down. The captain refused to tow up, the wind being light but favorable, SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, August 8. Arrived—Southern Cross, from Napier.
