CANTERBURY COURSING CLUB.

On Sat urday, as arranged by the committee on the previous day, the ties were run off for the Canterbury Cup. The meeting was held, at half-past nine o’clock at the Riccarton Hotel, an adjournment being made to the South Park. As on the day before the hares were very scarce, but those that were started afforded some grand sport. The courses of Frolic and Cumberland, Goli Goll and Belle, were the runs of the day. Later on it was found necessary to try the covers of the North Park, and the remainder of the events were run off there. The coursing was above the average, the Southern dogs contributing greatly to the success of the meeting. Gazelle was spotted as the favorite early in the day and remained so until the finish, although Leo and Magic had many admirers. The weathen was splendid and enhanced the pleasure of the day. The attendance was not so numerous as on Friday. The ties for the Canterbury Cup were run off first, with the following result : FIRST TIES. Gazelle boat Verbena Frolic beat Cumberland Goll Goll beat Bello Leo beat Blue Cap Rubens beat Gill Gill Russian Emperor boat Lc Rouge Master Walter beat Spring Magic ran a bye SECOND TIES. Gazelle ran a bye Magic beat C oil Goll Leo boat Rubens Master Walter beat Russian Emperor THIRD TIES. Leo beat Master Walter Gazelle beat Magic FINAL TIE. Gazelle beat Leo and won the Cup. It was intended to have runoff the Sapling Stakes, but Chang not bring on the ground Flirt ran a bye, and the tics for the Cup concluded the day’s sport. The ties for the Sapling Stakes will bo run off to.day in the North Park, the first pair of dogs being in the slips at half-past nine o’clock.
