The weather was beautiful through somewhat cold. The following are the results : The Timaru Cup, of 75 sors., with a sweepstake of 5 sots, each for starters, to go to second horse. Cornelius’s b m Kakanui La;s ... 2 Mr R. Barton’s ch g b ufield 3 The Tally-ho ! Handicap, of 100 sots., with a sweepstake of 5 sots, each for starters, to go to the second horse. Distance about four miles. Mr P. Powell’s cb g The Agent, 12st 41b ... 1 Mr R. Fraser’s bg S illelagh, aged, 11 st 51b 2 Mr W. Mr Ravenbill’s ch g Pakeha 1 The Baron ... ... ... ... ... 2 During this race Eversley went sideways on to a fence, causing his rider to fall, the horse rolled over him and he was picked up insensible. The rider of Brunette also had a nasty fall in the Tally-ho Handicap.
