At the Upper Hutt this morning, while a teamster named Maybey was driving a team of three horses towards the Upper Hutt railway station, they broke away from him and got on to the railway line, galloping in front of the Kaitoki ballast engine. They were run into by the engine and two horses killed, outright, and the third so badly injured that it had to be Bhot.
