Albion resumes her voyage for Melbourne via South this afternoon. Tne s.s. Eingarooma arrived from Melbourne via South at 7.35 this morning, and sails for Wellington and Nelson this afternoon. The schooner Jane Anderson for Stewart's Isand, and the barque Letterfourie for Oamarn, sailed this morning. The Newcastle correspondent of the Sydney Herald," writing on Juuo 24th says:—Tbe only feature worth noticing in the freight market is the sudden rise for Lyttelton, the schooner Swallow, 298 tons register, and carrying 470 tons coal, having been taken up to-day for that port at, 20s net cash. This, however, is an exceptional rate and cannot be taken as a guide to the ruling prices of the market. The practice that has been recently adopted in somo of the ports of these colonies of stowing bales of wool in deckhouses, empty cabins, and forecastles, in order to swell up the freight lists as much as possible, is attracting notice in London, and the surveyors who there superintend the discharge of wool cargoes pronounce strongly against it, giving it as their opinion that such loading is most objectionable, as tending to render vessels cranky and make them laboursome. A question arises also out of this practice which will probably lead to some litigation should the occasion for it arise, and that is, the liability of the owner of the vessel for any loss or damage sustained by wool so shipped, as, for instance, when a deckhouse full of wool is washed overboard with its contents, or when cabins so stowed are flooded.—" Australasian Shipping News," June 22nd.
