POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Offioe for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations:- tuedat> june For Otago, per Taiaroa, at 1.50 p.m. s late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.40 p.m. Drain. Mails per Arawata will olose as under:— For United Kingdom via Southampton and Brindisi, at 3 p.m.; late letters 3.20 p.m. For the Australian Colonies, Continent of Europa, India, China, and the East, Otago, fco., &c, at S p.m.; 'ate letters, 3.20 p.m. For the issue of money orders at 1 p.m. For registered letters, books, and newspapers, at 2 p.m. late letters oan be posted in the guard's van attached to the 4 p.m. Lyttelton train, provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate as a late fee. The mail via Southampton is due in London on September 2nd, 1878. The mail via Brindisi is due in London on August 26th, 1878. , , ~ English and Continental corresponc.ence for the above mails must be specially addresstid via Suez. MONDAY, Ist JULY. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. For Northern ports, per Hawea, lit 4.45 p.m.; late letter box, guard's van, must not be used for Hawea'e mail.
