The Customs duties collected here on Wednesday Jane 25th. amounted to £772 13s sd. Miles, Hnssal and Co. report having held a sale hv public auction at the Ashburton om Tuesday, 25th instant, of farms and suburban allotments, being the remainder of the freehold property of Messrs Tanered and Allen. This is the second sale held of this valuable property, and although the prices realised on the first occasion were of a most satisfactory nature, still, when the sums reached at this sale are taken into consideration, it cannot but prove to the discerning public that this favourite locality is still rising iu the public estimation, and must be satisfactory to the late Attendance was considerable, the competition spirited, and in most cases the bidding very eager Although, for want of time, a few of the allotments were not offered at auction, there were many applications from purchasers to treat privately. but the unsold sections will again be submitted to miction at a future date. It is understood that another valuable property in the immediate vicinity of this favourite township will shortly be offered for pub ic competition Subjoined is a list of the allotments sold with their respective prices.
