KOWAI RIFLE CLUB.
The above named club held their annual prize firing for the second class on Saturday last. The weather on this occasion was not very favorable, and in addition to this the smoke from a gorse fire some little distance away at times crossed the range, rendering it very difficult to sec the target. Notwithstanding these drawbacks there were some very good scores made. The first prize was a cup value £3 10s, presented by the captain, Mr J. Cameron ; second prize, £2 2s, presented by the president, Mr Reginald Poster ; third prize, a rille ; fourth, £1; fifth, 12s 6d. The firing commenced about 2 p.m. Entrance, 2s 6d ; five shots at each range. The results were as follow: 200 300 400
J. Mills seems to be a promising shot, and with a little more practice would soon be one of the best shots in the club. Firing terminated at 5 p.m.
