[ebdteb’s telegrams to the press AGENCY.] London, May 27th. Another Cabinet Council has been summoned for to-day. Ministerial journals contradict the rumours that Sir Stafford Northcote and Mr W. H. Smith have tendered their resignations. St. Petersburg, May 2G. Tho unofficial Russian Press angrily ask the Russian Government if the report of the Russian concessions bo true. Vienna, May 26. Tho Austrian troops, by friendly arrangement, have occupied Tchatchack. INTERPROVINCIAL. [per press agency.] Dunedin, May 28. The “Herald” this morning, commenting on the trial of Whitaker v. Jones, says that the cost of the prosecution will ho” considerably under £2OO while that of tho defence, according to the bil of costs recently delivered will amount to £2117 14s. Among the items composing the bill arc the following—paid Mr Rees £540; paid Mr Rocs, refresher, £275; paid Mr Hislop, £270, refresher to Mr Hislop, £137 10s. It states that other notable items could be culled from the bill of costs presented by Messrs Rees and Hislop.
