Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subjoct to the necessary alterations : THIS DAY. Friday, 21th May (Queen's Birthday), being a Post-Oilice holiday, all local mails usually despatched on i liut day will close at. Christ church the previous day, 23rd, at 8 p.m. The delivery window at the •ChrisT-dlurch Office will be opened for delivery of town from 8 to 0 p.m. on the 23rd instant, .and applicants are particularly requested to state iheir addresses in full. FRIDAY, MAY 2-4. For Akaroa and Otugo, per Taranaki, at 11 a.m. ; late letters, 11.20 a.m..; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. For Wellington, Nelsoji, Westport, Groyrnoutli, Hokitika, and Australian Colonies, per Tararua, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2,10 p in. train. For Kaikoura, per Tni, at 3 p.m. ; late letters, 3.20 p.m. ; railway station, 1 p.m. train. Supplementary mails for despatch per Rotorna tviil closft at:: p.m., and late letters may be posted in the guard's van attached to the I p.m. train for XyttcJton, provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate of postage as a late fee. The Stamp and Registered Letter window at the Chief Office will be opened this day from ft a.m. until 4 p.m., aad registered correspondence must bo posted by 2 p.m. All other branches of the office will be closed.
