The Customs duties collected here on Wednesday, April 3rd, amounted to £532 12s 2d, The items were —Spirits, £339 I6s9d; wine. £36 7s 8d ; ale, £5; tea, £36 16s; sugar, £39 ; ad valorem, £45 os; goods by weight, £3O 0s 9d; other duties, ss. At the sittings of the Waste Lands Board held Wednesday, April 3rd, 2555 acres 4 roods 9 perches were disposed of, realising £5112 2s 3d. The land is situated as under Ashley, 351 acres 3 Hoods; Selwyn, 1162 acres 9 perches; Ashburton, 966 acres; Geraldine. 32 acres 1 rood ; land Waimate, 44 acres.
