AQUATICS.

We give below a few notes on the forthcoming regatta at Kaiapoi, which will be of interest to our boating readers. The following are some of the probable competitors : Union Club. —Junior Pairs—Sylph : P. D. Kesteven, bow; G. Gapes, stroke. Pouroared Sweepstakes—Sabrina: J. Moore, bow : P. D. Kesteven, 2 ; R. D. Petrie, 3 ; A. 11. N. Campbell, stroke. Junior Double Sculls — Una: P. D. Kesteven, bow; G. Gapes, stroke. Senior Pairs—Sylph: T. B. Jacobsen, bow ; T. Searell, stroke. Junior Pours — Sabrina : H. Norris, bow; A.|E. Hawkins, 2 ; P. D. Kesteven, 3 ; G. Gapes, stroke. Fouroared Sweepstakes Race for persons who have not competed in any other event. Sabrina: J. Duncan, bow; R. Harding, 2; A. Grossman, 3 ; R. Walters, stroke. Canterbury Rowing Club.—Junior Pair : Cam. Senior Double Sculls —Swan. Sweepstakes Race —Illysus. Junior Double Sculls — Swan. Champion Pour-oar—Tamesis. Senior Pair-oar - Cam. Junior Pour-oar—Tamesis. Pour-oared Sweepstakes for persons not entered in any other race, Illysus. The Canterbury Club has not sent in names of their crew. Cure Boating Club—Junior Pair —Cure: C. Wright and A. Winterbourne, who row fairly together, but require style, and a mentor in fact. Senior Double Sculls—Weka: J. Perrin and R. Day, who are making excellent practice, and pull together in capital style. They will make it a hot race for whoever they may have to compete against. Sweepstakes Race —Cam : J. Perrin, stroke ; R. Day, 2; E. W. Wearing, and S. Henwood, bow. These I have not seen out, having missed them when it was their turn out. Junior Double Sculls— Weka: Crew not decided upon definitely. Champion Pours —Cam: T. Mellor, W. H. Hollier, G. Wright, and J. Winterbourne, stroke. The position of the crew will be definitely decided to-night. They have had a fair amount of practice and, so far as I can learn, there will only be at most three entries in each race, and the local crew has many friends. Winterbourne is in fine form, and so are the others. Wright has a fair amount of style, and both he and Mellor seem in good form. I should like to see Hollier get a little further back. The distance being decreased from three to two miles, the Tamesis may have the best of it, but I think a very close and fast race may be safely anticipated. Senior Pair-oared Race —Cure : J. Winterbourne, stroke ; G. Wright, bow, will row for Kaiapoi. Judging from the practice of this crew, they can do the distance in good time, and promise to be dangerous opponents if they do not take too much out of themselves in the “ big event.”

Junior Pair-oared Race—The Cam. I have not been able to got the names of this crew. Four-oared Sweepstake Race, for persons who have not previously rowed at tho regatta —Cam. The crew were to be selected last night. In reference to the arrangements of the regatta, the committee has decided to disqualify boats not up to time at starting, and a starter has been appointed who will do this regardless of consequences.
