ENGLISH SHIPPING. The Pleiades, bound for this port was off the Lizard on December 20th. The Malacca sailed from London on January 2nd, and the Downs on January 6th. The Himalaya, Captain Grant, passed Deal on January 15th. , „ , , ... The Duke of Argyle and Soukar were both loading for this port when the mail left. Latest Freights—The tonnage loading on the berth at London, January 17th, for India, China, and the Cape of Good Hope amounted to 56,960 tons, aud for Australia and New Zealand to 50,385 January 18th.—From London to the East and the Colonies there is no important change to report, rates continuing firm, with a fair demand for tonnage. Coal freights remain steady at about rates last quoted. Homeward from the East, business is slowly improving, aud there Is now a firm demand for steamers for local employment. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
