MUFF CRICKET MATCH.
It will be recoil cted that some time back a number of gentlemen organised and got up a costume cicket match in aid of the Indian Rclie!' Fund, which was ex< eedingly success ful. Yesterday a friendly match was played between two elevens, formed in the main of those who played in the Indian Relief Fund match. Mr H. Thomson captained one team, aud Mr W. R. Mitchell the other. The display of cricket on both sides was as might have been anticipated, something very great. Balls were hit in places where no one expected them, least of all the batsman, and the fielding wa« almost as brilliant as that of the Canterbury Fifteen against the Australian Eleven. The batting too of the gentle swain of St. Albans, and the defence of the two representatives of the wine and spirit interest, was something to be remembered. The height, of his Worship, however, availed not, and Mr Mitchell's side won after a very excellent contest. The weather was very fine indeed, and a most enjoyable day was spent by all taking part in the game. Wo append the scores : Ma mitchell'« eleven. Ist innings. 2nd innings S.
