The replies to the above stated that the letter had been referred to the superintending engineer, who had the matter under consideration. In the absence of Mr E. Amyes, Mr Tbo3. The secretary further stated that he had received several important communications from large intercolonial buyers respecting their operations in the market here, and that this would be greatly aided if better storing facilities existed near Chmtchurch. jlp also Btated that for the future the market rates given in the weekly report would be for pro- uce delivered at the Chmtciiuroh railway Station, as several sales were effected at various rates, according to the station at which delivery is taken. Therefore it was desirable that the extra railway charges should bo added to the rate sold at. This would obviate any misun( I .erstari:'.ing in jJm , \ The Secretary further stated that during the weet he had received from Mr George JJootb,' importer of agricultural implemonto,

&0., *he following pamphlets, i.e, "A few Notes on the Portablo Steam Engine, with an account of its construction ar d general adaption, by John Head, Assoc. Inst. Mr Perryman moved, and Mr Thos. Patterson seconded —" That the secretary convey to the contributors the thanks of the committee."

Mr Perry man moved, and Air H. Overton seconded —" That Mr James Gammack be elected a member of the committee."

Captain Willis gave the following notices of motion for next Saturday : expediency of running night trains at all times during the busy part of the grain season be laid before the head of the Railway Department, whenever there is a paucity of trucks." (2.) "That strong representation be made for carrying out a more satisfactory system of weighing produce at all the various receiving railway stations, with a view of overcoming present inaccuracies, and to facilitate business."

Before the business terminated, the chairman suggested that at the special meeting to be held next Saturday it was very desirable that all members of the committee should endeavor to attend to consider tbe importance of taking steps to provide for storing grain and other produce. If this desirable project could be carried out, the weighing and other serious difficulties [would be effectually overcome.
