A barque from the North was signalled this morning. The Wakatipn, s.s., and the Star of the South, s.s., arrived this morning; the former sails for Wellington and Sydney this afternoon, and the latter for Timarn to-morrow. The Taranaki sails South this afternoon. The Circe, sailed for Kaipara, in balluat, on Saturday evening. From a letter, dated January 28th, from Mr Walter Hood, the charterer of the brigantine Omaha, we learn that that vessel made another fine run of three days and a half from Lyttelton to the Chatham Islands, having left the former port on the night of January 14th, made the Chathams on the night of the 17th, anchored in Wangaroa on the 18th, and landed her stock all well. At the date of the letter the Omaha was at the Chathams, and had on board 142 bales wool, shipped at Chadleigh’s and Patterson’s station, but owing to the wind coming in, she had to leave before finishing loading. Sho was bound to Pitts and South-east Islands to ship about 80 bales wool, and after calling at two or three more places, would sail for Lyttelton, and in all probability from thence to Auckland.—Auckland “ Herald.”
