Russia refuses to agree to Austria’s proposal to hold a Conference at Vienna. She desires the Conference to take place in a town in some small state. The Greek army has been ordered to stop advancing into Thessaly. The European Powers have promised t° protect the northern Greek provinces. AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, February 7. The inferior Civil Service officers may expect reappointment, but not the higher officers. No further dismissals are intended. It is rumored that the Council will take up the Payment of Members Bill, and pass it under protest. The Assembly has adjourned till Tuesday. The Ministry hope in the meantime to receive an approving telegram from the Home Government. INTERPROVIN 01AL. [PEB PBEO3 AGENCY.] The Cricket Match. Auckland, February 8,2 pan. It consists of the Premier, Messrs Fisher, Sheehan, Hoani Mahe, Seymour George, Grace, Wood, and Leech. The steamer proceeds to Taranaki, Wanganui, and Wellington. Mr Sheehan afterwards goes to Otaki, thence overland to Napier and Tauranga.
