MAGISTRATES’ COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, February 8. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness.—George Crawwas fined os, and John Baker ss. A first offender, who used improper language, was fined 20s. Larceny.—John W illiams alias McParlane was charged with stealing a coat from the Terminus Hotel. The coat had been left in a room off the bar by Daniel Quadrie in the afternoon, and he missed it about seven in the evening. He then gave information to Detective Walker, who shortly afterwards saw accused carrying a coat on his arm, which the prosecutor identified as his property. There were thirty charges of various kinds recorded against the accused, and his Worship sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor.
