INTERCOLONIAL CRICKET MATCH.

AUSTRALIA v. WELLINGTON.— SECOND DAY. [by telegbaph. peom due own coeeesPONDENT.] Wellington, January 28. This match was continued at 12 o’clock today by the not outs, Gregory and Murdoch, facing I. J. Salmon and J. A. Salmon. Gregory cut bis second ball for 1 to Blacklock, who fielded it well. Murdoch was soon caught at long-leg by Lynch off T. J. Salmon. Six for 90. Blackham joined Gregory. The latter drove J. A. Salmon for 2, when 100 was put up. Shortly afterwards Gregory made a good 3 to leg off Ike Salmon. Gregory then made a hard on-drive to Kennedy, but he failed to lipid if. Two maiden overs then followed. Blackham got an awkward hit from J. A. Salmon, which quite upset him, and he was shortly, bowled by him for none—the first who had failed to score. Salmon’s end, and bowled a maiden. Bailey cut Edmunds for 2, and Thompson he drove for 3. They did not hit Thompson, but he was taken off and Smith put on. Bailey at once cut him for 4. The lunch bell was now rung, and all retired to the Caledonian. At 2.30 the play was resumed. Smith changed ends and Edmunds took the wicket, Fordham going on to bowl, and he clean bowled Gregory with bis first ball for a well hit 31. He showed excellent defence and good hitting power. Eight for 160. Kendall now came in. He only got 2, and was caught by W. J. Salmon off Eordham. The last man, Gibbes, was caught by Lockett off Smith without scoring.
