AUSTRALIA v. WELLINGTON, [By Telegkaph.] [pee press agency,] Wellington, January 26. Though some rain fell last night, and the weather looked threatening for to-day's cricket, the day is now fine but cloudy, and looks very favorable for the game. Play was commenced shortly after noon. The Australians won the toss and took the field, Spofforth bowling well. The score at 1.30 was twelve out for 41. J. Salmon, for 8; Lockett for 5; Kennedy, Thomson, and Willis, for duck's eggs ; Edmunds, for 5; Knapp, for 11; Horwood, for 5 ; Armitage, for 3; Robinson, for 0. All these were bowled by Spofforth. Fordham was run out, Blaeklock mode a 0. Speed, not out, 1. Extras, 3. Gregory caught out Horwood and Edmunds.
