HAG-LEY OAK LEAP v. PEEBBLETON. A match between the Hagley Oak Leaf and Prebbleton Clubs was played on the ground of the former on Wednesday last, and resulted in a victory for the home team by an innings and 59 runs. The bowling of Smith arid Page for the Hagley Oak Leaf was very effective. Page 58, Simpson 20, Smith 10, and J. Booth 10, played well for the home team. No double figures were made on the side of Prebbleton. The scores were — Hagley Oak Leaf : Eirst innings, 131. Prebbleton : First innings, 42 ; second, 30. AUCKLAND V CANTEEBUKY. [by telegbaph. pbom the special coebeßpondent of the peess.] Auckland, December 27. The match commences to-morrow at eleven o'clock. The weather is fine, with every appearance of continuing so. The Canterbury men are in fine form. C. Frith's bowling is thought a great deal of ; also the batting of Neilson, Ashby, Godby, and Fowler. The betting has changed from slight odds on Auckland to 3to 1 on Christchurch. Lynch, one of the Auckland bowlers, is said to be faster than TJlyett, but I have not seen him bowl, and expect this statement is rather exaggerated. The match wicket looks well, and ought to play true.
