MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, December 22. [Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M., and G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P.] Drunkenness. —Charles Tolan was fined 10s, and Bridget Ferrick 5s and cab hire. Cattle Trespass.—For allowing cattle to trespass John Brown was fined ss, and Henry Bennett ss. Protection of Earnings.—The case of Harriet Riley, who applied for an order to protect her earnings, was re-called. The wife complained that her husband was in the habit of coming home drunk and ill-treating her. He had also brought bad characters to the house. The Court made an order for the protection of the wife’s earnings, and ordered the husband to contribute 15s a week towards the support of their two children.
