Mails close at the Chief Post Offioe for tht ollowing plaoes as under, subject to neoessarj Uterations r TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18. Mails per Arawata will close as under: — For the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. For Australian Colonies and Otago, at 11 a.m. ; late letters, at 11.20 a.m. For the Continent of Europe, India, China, Mediterranean Ports, &c, &c, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. Registered letters and money orders, at 10 a.m. Book packets and newspapers, at 10.30 a.m. Late letters for the mails per Arawata can be posted in the guard's van attached to the train leaving Christchurch for Lyttelton at 12.10 p.m. on the 18th inst, provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate of postage as a late fee. For Otago, per Wakatipn, at 11 a.m.; late letters at 11.20 a.m.; railway station per 12-10 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 4.45 p.m.; late letter-box, guard's van, must not be used for mails per Wanaka. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19. For Otago, per overland, at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. For Wellington and Nelson, per Ringarooma. For Otago, per Hawea. SYDNEY J. DICK. Chief Postmaster.
