Now, however, there was only three, and bethought that either the race should be excised altogether or decrease the prizes offered. The letter asking that the race should be included in the programme was read, stating that six entries would come forward.
Mr Bird was of opinion that the race should be excised from the programme altogether. They had three prizes offered for three entries.
Mr Hebden moved—“ That the committee having been induced to place the bicycle race on the programme on the understanding that there would be six entries,- and only three having come forward, the committee deem it inadvisable to retain it on the programme, and that it be excised.” Mr Bird seconded the motion, which was agreed to.
