GRAND LODGE OF GOOD TEMPLARS.
I The Grand Lodge of New Zealand South ! opened its sittings at Timaru on Tuesday; the G.W.C.T. Bro. J. W. Jago in the chair. The ollicers present were G.W.C.T. Bro. J. W. Jago, G.W.V.T. Sister E. Amos, G.W.S. Bro. D. C. Cameron, G.W.A.S. Bro. A. G. Price, G.W.M. Bro. Thomas Smith, G.W.T. Bro. i Wm, Carr, Bro. T. W. Anderson. The I officers absent -were —P.G.W.C.T. Bro. J. A. ; D. Adams, G.W.C. Bro. and Rev. S. McFarlane, G.S. Bro. J. Jackson. The officers acting were—G.W.C. Bro. I'. Earle, G.W.C. Bro. J. Wilkinson, G.D..M. Ijro Trumblo, G.S. Bro. H. S. Sawyer, P.G.W.C.T. Bro. J. | R. Monson. The opening ceremonies were ' conducted in the Grand Lodge Degree. Bro. i H. W. Sandel, Hokitika district, was appointed minute secretary. Committee on credentials—Bro. D.C. Cameron,,'G.W.S., Bros. Wilkinson, Greig, Earll, and McEachern. Bro. the Hon. W. Fox, of New Zealand North, applied for admission as a visitor. Bro. Monson proposed and Sister Amos seconded —"That Bro. the Hon. W. Fox be admitted and welcomed, and that he be requested to take the vacant seat of G.W.C." Proposed by Bro. Monson, and seconded by Bro. W. Allan—" That the Grand Lodge sit daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., from 2..'50 p.m. to fi p.m., and from 7.30 p.m. to adjournment, unless determined by special motion." The credential committee reported having carefully examined the credentials of the following : East Christchurch, Bros. F. Buckland and H. Bennetts; West Christchurch, Bro. Rev. H. W. Wilkinson ; Dunedin, Bros. J. Porteous, A. G. Price, R. Greig, D. C. Cameron, and W. Carr: Port Chalmers, Bros. J. N. Monson and W. McEachern ; Timaru, Bros. W. Allan, E. Jones and W. Hislop ; Hokitika, H. J. Sandel; North Canterbury, Bros. J. D. Blackmore and N. Evans; Otago (North CentralJ, Bro. W. Gallon; North Otago, Bro. J. Rankin; Clutha, Bro. D. Gilbert; Banks' Peninsula, Bro. W. H. Clements; Nelson, Bro. F. Yaughan; Marlborough, Bro. W. P. Earll; Southland, Bro. Rev. J. E, Ash; Cromwell, Bro. Rev. A. G. Boyd; Taieri, Bro. J. Cuthbertson; Lyttelton, Bro. S. C. Phillips; Queenstown, Bro. H. B. Smith; Tuapeka,- Bros. John Glass and H. J. Sawyer; Middle Canterbury, Bro. G. H. Hill. The Than* a district having increased to over six hundred members since the election, your committee beg to report and recommend that the additional representative take his seat. Protest against Bro. be adopted." The Grand Lodge Degree was conferred upon the following : —Waikouaiti, No. 18, Bro. W. Sterling ; Alexandra, No. 24, Bros. N. Kerr and J. Freeman; Star of South Canterbury, No. 16, Bro. John Goldsmith ; Future Hope of Waimate, No. 89, Bros. Bannerman, sen., and John Bannerman ; Onward, No. 21, Bro. J. Doggett. Apologies were received from Bro. Somerville, from Hokitika, and Bros. Brase and Connelly, from Grey Valley district. Resolved—" That the apologies received from the various representatives be adopted." Bros. W. HMop and E. Jones were appointed by the G.W.C.T. reporters for the Press. The following members presented their credentials for the purpose of receiving the Grand Lodge Degree, and the committee having reported favorably, they were admitted and installed in an impressive manner. Lifeboat Lodge, No. 101 .—Sister M. A. Hislop, Bros. W. L. Potter, R. B. Walcot, J. Cotton, W. Brown, R. H. Roberts, W. Padget, J. Coe, and C. Johnson. Alexandra Lodge, No. 24 : —Bro. T. N. Cooper, Sister Ann Cooper, Bros. T. Place, R. Sunderland, Sisters M. and E. Weaver. Star of Hope, No. 2 :—Bros. A. Weir and J. Swaite. The Lodge then opened in the Third Degree. The financial statement for the past year was then submitted and adopted. After which the report of the G.S.I.T. was read. Resolved—" That the office of G.S.I.T. be continued, but that the G.W.S. furnish supplies." Resolved—- " That the report as amended be adopted, with the exception of the last clause but one." The report of the Grand Political committee was read, and was ordered to be received and considered, with other items relating thereto. The Lodge closed in due form at 10 30 p.m.
