COMMERCIAL.
The revenue collected at the Customs on Monday amounted to £662 14s Bd. The following were the items: —Wine and spirits, £222 11s 8d ; tobacco, £62 15s; tea, £92 11s 6d; sugar, £lOl 12s Id ; candles, £lO 8s 4d; hops, £6B 13s 9d; drapery, £44 4s; boots, £24 6s; jewellery, £l4 18s; sundries, £2O 14a 4d. The value of the imports at Lyttelton during the quarter ending 30th September, was £348,613. as against £322,084 in the corresponding quarter of 1876. At Timaru the value was £23,356, as against £28,702; and at Akaroa, £303, as against £67. The total value of imports in the colony during the quarter was £1,891,481, as against £1,767,207 in the corresponding quarter. The exports from Lyttelton were in value £315,037, against £215,002; and at Timaru, £2ll, against £7822. The total value of exports from the colony was £914,269, against £585,970 in the corresponding quarter last year.
At the sittings of the Waste Lands Board on Monday 1863 acres were disposed of, realising £3276. The land was situated as follows;—Ashley. 442 acres ; Selwyn, 160 acres ; Ashburton, 575 acres; Geraldine, 456 acres ; Waimate, 230 acres.
