Tanpo sailed for Fort Chalmers shortly after 1 p.m. to-day. The s.s. Wellington, under Captain McGee s command, arrivedat 8.45 a.m. from South. She sails North this afternoon. The s.s. Maori arrived at 12.30 p.m. from South. She sails for West Coast to-night. The Luna, p.s., from Wellington, arrived at 12.40. She sails on return trip to-morrow. The barque East Lothian and the Empress of China went ont into the stream ready for sea yesterday, The Canny Scot and Queensland are also lyingthere awaiting the first fair wind. The schooner Nellie was berthed at Cunningham’s wharf to discharge yesterday, and the Martha Eeid at the Tunnel Wharf. The ship Waitangi has been moved to a berth ahead of the Crusader, to make room for the Eangitikui. When the Kangitikei is berthed to-day there will he five ships fore-and-aft at the Gladstone Pier for the first time. The Island Lily discharged produce into the Wairrateand Waitangi yesterday. The Timaru Landing Service have instituted an improvement in their lauding plant in the shape of two immense iron buckets for discharging coal. The«o, each of which holds some five or six cwt.„ are filled in the boats, swung on to the drays by means of the crane, and then emptied by being tipped np. Hitherto the coal has bad to be carried in bags from the boats, or else shovelled into the drays, and it is believed that apart from the economising of time, the gain by the saving of bags will amply repay the outlay. SHIPPING TELEGEAMS. Bluff, November 13. The Arawata left Sandridgc at 4 p.m. on the Bth with 50 saloon and 106 steerage, and 500 tons cargo for all ports. Passed Swan Island next day; experienced fresh N.W. winds and tine weather during the run across ; arrived late last night; sails at 4 p.m. for Dunedin. Saloon passengers for Lyttelton —Mr Gordon, Mr and Mrs Walton, ten in steerage, 36 tons cargo.
