SALE OF STOCK.
The usual sale of pedigree and other stock following on the November Show took place on Saturday last, at the grounds of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The attendance, compared, with former years, was small, the absence of many of the breeders from North and South being particularly noticeable. The competition in the sheep classes was exceedingly dull, the lots sold being quitted very slowly, while many of those submitted were passed in to the owners. For the bulls the bidding was very lively, and for Mr John Deans, and Messrs Hay Bros', lots especially, the competition between Northern and Canterbury breeders was keen, the former gentleman however holding out the longest. The following is the result: — Sold by Messrs Matson and Co. and R. Wilkin, for Mr J. Deans, bull Premier, calved August 27th, 1876, by King of the Butterflies, dam Nora 11.
