CABLE NEWS [pee PRESS AGENCY.] AUSTRALIAN. The ElectionsSydney, October 25. Mr F. W. Tucker hue been returned for Wed Sydney. The Premier was defeated. Messrs Meriman, Cameron, O’Connor and Harris have been elected. Adelaide. Mr Morgan joins Mr Boucaut in forming a Ministry. Melboeene. The Assembly has passed the Education vote. INTERPROYINCIAL. Cable Communication. The Otago Convention. Wellington, Nctober 26. A telegram from Singapore, dated the 24th, states that the cable ship Duke of Edinburgh left that night to repair the Penang cable, and may possibly be through next night. It was hoped she might have it repaired in about twenty-four hours. Dunedin, October 26. The reply of Mr J. W. Thomson, President of the Otago Convention, to Earl Carnarvon’s despatch of 28th June is published in the “Daily Times” this morning. Ho state that it is his intention to lay the despatch before the Executive Committee of the Convention. The reply, which is long, is of an argumentative kind, and defends the course pursued by the Convention.
