Larrikin ism is prevalent in South Dunedin, and last night some blackguards amused themselves in High street by destroying fences, and wrenching off fancy door knobs. Dr Scott, Professor of Anatomy in the Otago University, delivered his first lecture in Dunedin last night. The subject was “ The Hand in different Animals.” Mr Sperry was entertained at dinner last night. Among the toasts drank was the “ Deceased Provincial Government.” The “Times” referring to the want of confidence motion says : —“ We might have hoped that Ma jor Atkinson from his character would have exhibited a more generous spirit, and been inspired with more chivalrous desire to give a fair chance to bis successors, so that they might show what was in them.” PARLIAMENTARY. Last Night’s Proceedings. Wellington, October 24. The Mines Bill was further considered in committee. The Crown Redress Bill (No. 2), the St. Andrew’s Church Trustee Incorporation Bill, the Thames Water Supply Bill, the Dunedin Loans Consolidation Bill, the Town of Waitahuna Bill, the Akaroa Public Library Site Bill, the Lawrence Municipal Waterworks Bill, the Crown Grants Act Amendment Bill, the Wellington Reserves Amendment Bill, the Bankers’ Books Evidence Bill, the Conveyancing Ordinance Amendment Bill, all passed through committee, were read third time and passed. The committal of the South Rakaia Road Board Bill, No. 2, was adjourned till to-morrow. The South Rakaia Road Board Bill, No. 1, was read a second time. The Onehunga Endowments Bill was read a second time. The Dunedin Wharves and Quays Reserve Bill was ordered to be committed three months hence on a division of 80 to 15, The House rose at 1.10 a.m. No Confidence Motion. Soon after the meeting of the House Major Atkinson gave notice to move to-morrow that the House has no confidence in the Government.
